My Top 10 Graduation Tunes

It's that time of year again: where all the high school seniors are celebrated and sent off into the real world. I graduate June 7th and, being the cheesy, sentimental freak I am, just had to put together a graduation playlist. The couple weeks leading up to the big day, I've been listening to these songs a lot. Some of them bring back nostalgic memories and some just make you feel good and positive about what lies ahead. Nevertheless, music can really make you think, and we all get these many feelings rushing back at us during this time. Take a minute. Just stop and think about all that you've accomplished and how exciting and mysterious the future will be. These songs are in no particular order.

We Are The Champions - Queen

This one is a classic. After looking back at everything you've been through, you deserve to celebrate. As young adults who have finally made it through the dreaded years known as high school, we ARE champions.
We Are Young - Fun.
This is another song just about celebrating who we are. Even though we are about to head off into the real world, we can't forget: that we are young. No matter where life takes us, we can still set the world on fire.
In My Life - The Beatles
You can never go wrong with a little British Invasion. I love this song because it makes you think about all the places you've been and everyone you have come across on your journey. It's about remembering those meaningful relationships and experiences, even if they no longer exist.
Here's To Never Growing Up - Avril Lavigne
The title says it all. Even though we may "technically" grow up, our souls should never have to. This song is particularly nostalgic to me already because I was a diehard Avril fan back in her Sk8er Boi days. It's about not changing who you really are and thinking about all the good times you had growing up.
Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen
Glory days, they all pass you by. Bruce speaks the truth. Although I do believe that as you get older your days can still be fun and full of glory, the times while in high school contain something special about them. Whether high school was good or bad, it's a time that we won't get back and all we can do is keep this period of our lives in mind as we grow old.
Carry On - Fun.
This song, for some reason, I will never get sick of. It just makes you feel good, especially when the troubles in your life get to you. It makes you feel inspired. It's definitely inspired me. No matter how hard things get, just keep going and carry on. It relates to graduation because it keeps pushing you to get through everything and make a better future for yourself.
Graduation Day - Head Automatica
I first heard this song years ago, long before I was even thinking about graduation. I see it as expressing a time where everyone in the graduating class sort of puts their differences aside and comes together to celebrate. You may not like everyone in your class, but a time like this makes you realize you've gone through a lot with these people.
You Get What You Give - New Radicals
This is just an all-around feel good song. It gives you hope for your future. It tells you never to give up. This concept can come in handy this time of year when we may feel like everything is just so difficult. We have to remember, though, that the future brings exciting things but we must work for it. This song is a positive, uplifting tune that makes you excited to graduate and move on.
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day
The vibe this song brings across may sound a little somber, but it's another one that makes you think. Think of all the things you've gone through to get to this point. You're also saying goodbye to a
chapter in your life in order to bring about a new one.

Graduation (Friends Forever) - Vitamin C
Of course this one had to be included. I heard this song back in the days for events such as 'graduating' elementary school and never thought it'd mean so much to me when I actually graduate. Once again, memories are brought back. Thinking ahead and about where you and your friends will be. Tears may be shed come graduation time if you hear this song, but it's still a good feeling.
